Serving Memphis and the Mid-South for more than 170 years.
New York Life's roots in Memphis reach back to at least 1854, when historical records document a $5,000 New York Life policy issued through the Company's local Memphis agent. By 1886, New York Life was represented from the Cotton Exchange Building in downtown Memphis, and in the decades that followed, its growing Memphis office became a regional presence serving families throughout the Mid-South.
As Memphis grew, New York Life grew with it—moving from downtown to East Memphis, later to Aaron Brenner Drive, and ultimately to today's Memphis General Office on Poplar Avenue in Germantown.
For generations, Agents here have helped individuals, families, and businesses protect what matters and prepare for what comes next. The locations have changed, and generations have passed, but the purpose has remained the same:
Making promises—and being there when those promises matter most.
Our history is rooted in Memphis. Our commitment is to the generations still to come.
